Com­munity is about what the whole story is striv­ing for: with God and with another. God’s image is three per­sons as one. John Burke shares how God seeks to restore us through con­nec­tion to God and con­nec­tion to others.

Don Everts shares how every­one in your group will be in dif­fer­ent places spir­itu­ally– some­times you will have non-Christians. Try to get every­one on the same play­ing field. A manu­script study format helps put every­one on the same level. Be care­ful of “assum­ing” what people know as well. Also choose pas­sages that focus on Jesus.

KBC has many links to Stu­dent Life which does a great job of reach­ing stu­dents with the gos­pel. Per­haps your group would like to get behind a KBC-er who is at the fore­front of this ministry.

The Chris­tian life can’t be lived out­side the con­text of com­munity. The two pil­lars that form the expres­sion of small groups are the Great Com­mand­ment (Mark 12) and the Great Com­mis­sion (Mat­thew 28).

When someone asks a tough ques­tion, the best thing you can do is be hon­est. Bill Wil­lits says it’s help­ful to say “this is what I think, but I need to get back to you.” Or open up the ques­tion to the group to help find the answer.
